Face

The face is our most prominent feature. It's what makes each person unique and how humans recognize one another. It's the first impression made.  The skin on the face is more affected by environmental pollutants and UV ray exposure than any other part on the body. This fact results in the face needing the most protective and repairing skincare products.

Professional skincare products are formulated for all different skin types and conditions. Because all humans are unique, what works for one person’s skin may not work for another. Skin types are used to give each person’s skin a general category - Normal, Dry/Dehydrated, Oily/Acne, Combination and Sensitive.

Here's a guide for people unsure of their skin type:

Normal: Normal skin has few, if any, imperfections and the pores are not easily seen from up close. The skin appears to be hydrated, but never shiny. If a tissue or piece of paper is pressed against normal skin, there will be no residue left on the tissue or paper once removed.

Dry/Dehydrated: Dry/Dehydrated skin often has rough, flaky patches and pores that are nearly invisible. The complexion can quickly become dull without routine exfoliation. Fine lines and wrinkles occur earlier for dry skin. Red patches of irritation are noticeable, too.

Oily/Acne: Oily/Acne skin has enlarged pores and an overall shiny appearance that feels greasy to the touch. The pores are often clogged, leading to blackheads and frequent breakouts.

Combination: Combination skin typically has an oily forehead, nose and chin while the cheeks and the area around the eyes tend to be dry. The pores are somewhat dilated, especially in the oily parts of the face, and the skin is somewhat shiny. Breakouts occur, but are usually limited to just a few blemishes at a time.

Sensitive: Sensitive skin can be any of the other four skin types, but it's highly susceptible to irritation and reactions. Sensitive skin will quickly respond to stronger ingredients, such as alpha hydroxy acids, or AHAs, and beta hydroxy acids, or BHAs, with a painful burning sensation. The skin will later react through a red, itchy and flaky patch where the stronger ingredient was applied.
