Exfoliants

Skin exfoliation is essential to any skincare regime. The exfoliation process helps polish the skin and remove excess dirt, makeup and debris while promoting a higher cellular-turnover rate. Exfoliants come in different forms for different skin types. These forms include enzymes, granular scrubs and gommage. Each exfoliant is designed with different mechanisms and ingredients to encourage better product penetration, improving the effectiveness to your skincare regime.

Exfoliation should be performed no more than twice a week, as overexfoliation can lead to excess oil production in the skin, which can turn into acne blemishes. An enzyme can be used more often, about three times per week, and is extremely gentle while breaking down dead skin cells and providing a smoother texture. Granular scrubs do exactly what their name suggests - scrub off excess dirt, makeup and debris. Granular scrubs are best saved for rougher, thicker skin and, depending on the ingredients, can be used once or twice a week. Gommage exfoliants are gentle and even hydrating, perfect for the gentle exfoliation of sensitive skin.
