Cheek Rash and Redness

Redness of the cheeks can indicate many skin issues, other than blood rushing to the area, causing rosy cheeks. Skin conditions such as rosacea can create redness and irritation on the cheek area. Broken capillaries and pustules can also be evident in severe cases of rosacea. Other indications of redness or irritation on the cheeks can come from an allergic reaction, stimulation or even from medication.

Concerning how the cheek redness or rash is caused, there are alternatives to addressing these issues with professional-grade topical treatments. Under certain circumstances, medical advice may be necessary because of the condition and offset of the rash.

Overstimulation, hormones, sunburn, dermatitis and even rosacea can be treated with topical skin treatment to calm and soothe the skin. Topical creams and serums will have healing ingredients that provide relief as well as calm and moisturize. Certain essential oils, extracts of horse chestnut and licorice and hydrocortisone are all excellent ingredients for calming and soothing red and inflamed skin.

There are contraindications (the withholding of medical treatment because it could harm a patient) for treatments, such as lasers, chemical peel, microdermabrasion and aggressive AHAs and BHAs products, that should be avoided by people with rosacea or cheek rashes/redness. These treatments are quite aggressive and could cause even more harm to the skin. As with any skin concerns or serious condition, always consult with a dermatologist if the cheek rash/redness is more than just a flushing of being overstimulated. If the condition worsens or is due to allergic reaction, seek medical attention.

Estheticians are trained and, in some cases, certified in certain protocols and treatments that deal with skin conditions such as rosacea. A compilation of professional-grade skin care products can be matched to specific skin issues. A range of gentle, healing and soothing ingredients assist in creating calm and revitalized skin.
