Lactic Acid

Lactic Acid, considered an organic Alpha Hydroxy Acid, is found naturally in milk that has soured or become fermented. Lactic Acid is quite revered in skincare products, including cleansers, creams and serums, as it refines the texture of the skin. Lactic Acid is a bit more gentle than Glycolic Aid. It should be noted, though, Lactic Acid it is still an exfoliant and could possibly cause some irritation in more sensitive-skin types. Lactic Acid can be a great alternative for people who want the benefits of Glycolic Acid, but can't tolerate other AHAs.

In skin treatments, Lactic Acid can be integrated for multi-functional uses including skin-lightening (it has the ability to inhibit melanin production), smoothing skin texture (exfoliation), helping in the treatment of acne and lightening of post-inflammation hyperpigmentation incurred from acne.

Skin care products containing Lactic Acid, particularly face creams, are beneficial to dry skin types as Lactic Acid is a humectant and softens rough skin textures. Because Lactic Acid has the ability to gently remove dead layers of skin, this encourages better product absorption of topical serums and creams, allowing other ingredients to more effectively penetrate your skin. With its ability to smooth fine line and wrinkles, Lactic Acid is a proven anti-aging ingredient.

Overall, Lactic Acid provides many benefits and attributes for just about any skin type and condition.
